Honesty - James Harrison

Each day I wait for a change to come
No, it’s not that things have all gone wrong
But with the sun my hopes rise
And with the stars, I’m left unsatisfied

Though miracles occur within my view,
Is it still selfish to say to you
“Why? How?” “I want,” “I expect nothing less…
From the Maker of souls than to bring the very best”?

What’s gonna give me what I’m looking for?
If I try harder, think harder, be more and more?
No, you said “Drop your care on the floor…
Forget about it all and walk out the door.”
I’ve done it, I’m doing it, I’m waiting, I’m trusting
That you have a man in mind who I will be

To a hill, a day’s a flash of light
It’s centuries that make up his life
A score, I complain, so give to me
Ancient eyes with which to see

Ancient truths, and also burn inside
A longing and a fire nevermore to hide.
I want and need the courage to yearn
For the Ancient of Days in glory to return

What’s gonna give me what I’m looking for?
If I try harder, think harder, be more and more?
No, you said “Drop your care on the floor…
Forget about it all and walk out the door.”
I’ve done it, I’m doing it, I’m waiting, I’m trusting
That you have a man in mind who I will be
